The core of selecting idler rollers for heavy-duty conveyors is high strength, impact resistance, anti-jamming, and long service life. This requires comprehensive matching based on materials, structure, bearings, seals, and diameter.

Steel idler rollers are preferred. The cylinder should be made of thick-walled seamless steel pipe to ensure pressure and impact resistance, preventing cylinder deformation and shaft bending caused by material impact. Increase the idler roller diameter according to the belt width and load, commonly using specifications such as φ108, φ133, and φ159, to improve load-bearing capacity and operational stability.

Heavy-duty, high-precision bearings must be selected to meet heavy-duty, continuous operation conditions. Multi-stage labyrinth seals should be used to effectively prevent dust, slurry, and water from entering the bearing, preventing lubrication failure and idler roller seizure. Use high-temperature, high-pressure resistant special grease to extend bearing life.

Buffer idler rollers must be installed at the material drop point. These rollers absorb impact through rubber rings, protecting the conveyor belt and idler rollers and reducing the risk of belt tearing. Use thicker, solid shafts for the idler rollers to improve bending strength and prevent bending under stress. During installation, appropriately reduce the spacing between idlers. In ordinary heavy-duty sections, the spacing should not exceed 1m, and in the material drop zone, it should be increased to 300-500mm to prevent excessive conveyor belt sagging, deviation, and material spillage. Simultaneously, ensure the idlers are installed concentrically to avoid uneven stress and accelerated wear.

In summary, heavy-duty idlers should meet the requirements of thick wall, large shaft, heavy-duty bearings, strong sealing, and impact resistance. Reasonable spacing can significantly reduce the failure rate and extend the service life of the conveyor belt and the entire machine.
