Conveyor rollers failing to rotate is a common issue in material handling systems. Here are the most frequent causes and quick checks:
1.Material&Debris Buildup
Dust, powder, coal, grain,or sludge clogs the roller end caps and seals.
Prevents the roller from spinning freely around the shaft.
2.Seized/Damaged Bearings
Bearings wear out,rust,or lack lubrication.
Impact,overload,or low-quality bearings cause jamming.
3.Misalignment or Binding
Conveyor frame bent or brackets misaligned.
Roller is squeezed too tightly between supports.
4.Belt Tension Too High
Over-tightened conveyor belt presses hard on rollers.
Creates excess friction and stops rotation.
5.Corrosion&Rust
Moisture, water,or chemical exposure causes roller shell or shaft to rust.
Common in wet,outdoor,or corrosive environments.
6.Worn or Broken Shaft/Components
Bent shaft, broken end cap,or damaged housing.
Structural damage blocks free rotation.
7.Improper Installation
Roller installed backwards or incorrectly seated.
Clamps or bolts over-tightened onto the roller body.
