How to Lubricate Conveyor Roller Bearings
1.Choose the Right Grease
Use long-life,high-performance grease specially designed for conveyor rollers:
Lithium complex grease–most common, wide temperature range
High-temperature grease–for cement,steel,hot environments
Anti-washout&anti-dust grease–for mining,wet,dusty sites
Avoid cheap,low-quality grease that dries out or leaks quickly.
2.Correct Grease Quantity
Fill about 1/3 to 1/2 of the bearing internal space
Too little=insufficient lubrication→seizure
Too much=high resistance,overheating,noise
Factory-sealed lifetime lubrication is recommended for most industrial rollers.
3.Lubricate During Production(Not Field Re-greasing)
Most standard conveyor rollers are sealed and lubricated for life at the factory.
They are not designed for on-site re-greasing.
Field disassembly destroys the seal and allows dust/water entry.
4.Proper Lubrication Method
Clean bearings and housings before lubrication
Apply grease evenly to both sides of the bearing
Ensure grease fully covers rolling elements and raceways
Assemble with high-quality labyrinth seals immediately to keep contamination out
5.Avoid These Mistakes
Do not mix different types of grease
Do not lubricate dirty or damaged bearings
Do not over-pack grease
Do not expose lubricated components to dust or water
6.Maintenance Suggestion
For lifetime-lubricated rollers:
Inspect for noise,heat,or sticking
Replace faulty rollers directly instead of trying to re-grease
This ensures long service life, low noise, and no bearing seizure.
