Carrying roller,also known as conveyor carrying idler,is a key component of belt conveyor systems,specifically designed to support the upper conveyor belt and the bulk materials it transports.As one of the most widely used roller types in various industrial conveying lines,carrying rollers bear the main load of the conveyor system,ensuring stable belt operation,reducing friction,and preventing material spillage.They are essential for maintaining the efficiency and reliability of conveyor lines in mining,construction,ports,cement plants,and other fields where bulk materials need to be transported over short or long distances.The design,material,and performance of carrying rollers directly affect the service life of the conveyor belt and the overall operating cost of the system.

The basic structure of a carrying roller consists of several core components that work together to achieve its functions.The main parts include the roller shell,roller shaft,bearings,bearing housing,and sealing system.The roller shell,the outermost part in contact with the conveyor belt,is usually made of high-quality Q235 carbon steel pipe through precision machining,ensuring a smooth and uniform surface to minimize friction between the shell and the belt.For harsh working conditions involving highly abrasive materials such as sand,gravel,and ore,the shell can be coated with rubber,polyurethane,or ceramic layers to enhance wear resistance and extend the service life of both the roller and the belt.

The roller shaft is the core load-bearing part of the carrying roller,responsible for supporting the weight of the shell,the conveyor belt,and the transported materials.It is typically made of 45#carbon steel or alloy steel,treated with heat treatment to improve its strength,toughness,and anti-bending capacity,preventing deformation under heavy loads.The two ends of the shaft are precision machined to fit tightly with the bearings,ensuring smooth rotation and reducing wear during long-term operation.Bearings used in carrying rollers are mostly deep groove ball bearings with C3 clearance,featuring high load-bearing capacity,low noise,and long service life,which are sealed to prevent the entry of dust,water,and other impurities.

Carrying rollers are mainly divided into two types according to their structure:troughing carrying rollers and flat carrying rollers,each adapted to different conveying needs.Troughing carrying rollers are the most common type,usually composed of 3,5,or 7 rolls arranged in a V or U shape with a trough angle of 20°,35°,or 45°.This trough structure can effectively hold bulk materials,prevent spillage during conveying,and improve the conveying capacity of the conveyor line.They are widely used in conveying granular,powdery,or lumpy materials such as coal,ore,sand,and gravel.

Flat carrying rollers,on the other hand,are single-roll structures with a flat surface,mainly used for conveying small,light,and non-abrasive materials such as grain,flour,and finished products.They are also suitable for scenarios where the conveyor belt needs to maintain a flat surface,such as in sorting and packaging lines.In addition,according to the installation position and working conditions,carrying rollers can be further divided into standard carrying rollers,heavy-duty carrying rollers,and high-temperature resistant carrying rollers,which are customized to meet the specific requirements of different industries.

The key performance advantages of carrying rollers include high wear resistance,excellent load-bearing capacity,low friction,and easy maintenance.High-quality carrying rollers can operate stably for more than 30,000 hours,reducing the frequency of replacement and maintenance,and lowering the overall operating cost of the conveyor system.The multi-stage sealing system(labyrinth seal+flinger seal)effectively prevents dust and water from entering the internal components,ensuring stable operation even in outdoor,dusty,or wet working environments.

In practical applications,carrying rollers are installed at regular intervals along the upper frame of the conveyor belt,forming a continuous supporting surface to avoid belt sagging and deformation.They work closely with other conveyor components such as return rollers,impact rollers,and self-aligning rollers to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the entire conveyor line.Choosing the right type and high-quality carrying rollers is crucial for improving the reliability of the conveyor system and reducing production losses caused by equipment failure.
