Main impacts of damaged idlers on conveyor belts:

Direct wear and tear/breakage of the belt:When an idler jams and stops rotating,the friction between the belt and the idler changes from"rolling friction"to hard sliding friction.This can quickly wear down and roughen the bottom surface of the belt,and in severe cases,wear it through and break it.
