Why do idler rollers vibrate during operation?
Vibration during idler roller operation is essentially due to unbalanced rotation, uneven force distribution, and being"bounced"by external forces.Let me explain the causes in the clearest and most easily diagnosable on-site:
1.Quality issues with the idler roller itself–most common:
The roller cylinder is not round,is eccentric,or has uneven wall thickness, causing it to rotate like an"out-of-round wheel,"bouncing and jerking.
Excessive bearing clearance, damaged balls,or poor precision cause jumping and wobbling during rotation.
Misalignment between the cylinder and the shaft causes swaying during rotation, directly leading to vibration.
2.Insufficient bearing lubrication, dust ingress,or bearing damage:Insufficient lubrication, dryness,or dust ingress in the bearings cause uneven rotation, with inconsistent speeds.
Damaged bearing raceways cause periodic jamming and jumping during rotation, resulting in vibration.
3.Improper installation or deformed support:
The idler roller is installed crookedly, unevenly,or not perpendicular to the belt, causing skewed force distribution.
4.Vibration Caused by Deformed,Opened,or Loose Supports:Deformed, unwelded,or loose supports cause the idlers to lack stable support and vibrate along with the entire machine.
5.Vibration Caused by Conveyor Belt Issues:Uneven belt joints, inconsistent thickness,or aging and bulging cause the belt to bounce when passing over the idlers.
Belt misalignment and oscillation cause the idlers to be swayed from side to side.
6.Uneven Material Impact and Load:Large drop points cause large pieces of material to hit the idlers, resulting in instantaneous impact vibration.
Uneven material load and spillage cause uneven stress on the idlers, resulting in side-to-side swaying.
7.Entanglement and Jamming:Wire, woven bags,or strips of cloth become entangled on the idler shaft, causing a shift in the center of gravity.
Material gets stuck between the idler and the support, causing scraping and bouncing during rotation.
