Why do conveyor rollers get stuck?

The fundamental cause of conveyor roller jamming is one thing:the bearing won't turn,is seized,or is stuck by foreign objects.Let me explain in the simplest terms,easily checked on-site:

1.Dust,coal slurry,or debris(most common)

After the seals at both ends of the roller fail,dust,coal dust,slurry,and sand can get into the bearing.

Over time,the bearing raceway becomes blocked,the balls stop turning,and the roller jams.

This is more likely to occur in mines,sand and gravel pits,and coal yards.

2.Insufficient bearing lubrication or deteriorated grease

Too little grease inside the roller

→Dry grinding and seizing

Water or dust ingress→Lubrication failure

High-temperature melting and loss→Bearing directly running dry

Soon it will jam,overheat,and stop turning.

3.Poor bearing quality/rust

Ordinary bearings rust when exposed to water or moisture

Balls and cages are damaged or broken

Bearing jams.

4.Roller Deformation Due to External Force:Material impact and collisions with hard objects can deform the roller cylinder and bend the shaft.

A bent shaft will cause the bearing to seize,preventing rotation and resulting in a"jammed"or"stuck"condition.

5.Poor Sealing Design:Many inexpensive rollers only have a single-layer seal,offering weak dust and water resistance.

In harsh environments,they will quickly become contaminated with dust and seize up.

Rollers with multi-layer labyrinth seals are much more durable.

6.Improper Installation and Uneven Stress:Misaligned rollers or uneven supports will cause:

One-sided stress on the roller

Misalignment between the shaft and bearing

Undergoing rotation will eventually lead to jamming or seizing.
