Here’s a clear, practical list of ways to extend the service life of conveyor idlers in industrial environments:
1.Choose High-Quality Sealed Idlers
Use idlers with multi-stage labyrinth seals to prevent dust, moisture, and debris from entering bearings.Good sealing is the most effective way to extend life.
2.Select Proper Bearings
Use heavy-duty,high-precision bearings suitable for continuous operation.Avoid low-cost,low-quality bearings that fail early.
3.Use Heat-Resistant Idlers in High-Temperature Areas
For steel plants, hot material conveyors, and high-heat zones, use heat-resistant bearings and grease to avoid melting lubricant and bearing failure.
4.Install Impact Idlers at Loading Points
At material drop points, install impact idlers with rubber cushions to reduce shock, protect the belt, and prevent shaft bending or shell damage.
5.Control Belt Alignment
Use self-aligning idlers and adjust the conveyor structure to avoid belt deviation.Uneven side pressure greatly shortens idler life.
6.Regular Inspection and Maintenance
Check for abnormal noise, stuck rotation, shell wear,or sealing damage.Replace damaged idlers early to avoid affecting other components.
7.Keep the Conveyor System Clean
Remove dust, coal, ore,or cement buildup around idlers to reduce friction and prevent seal blockage.
8.Avoid Overloading
Do not exceed the conveyor’s designed load.Overloading causes excessive pressure, bending shafts, and damaging bearings.
9.Use Corrosion-Resistant Idlers in Harsh Environments
In ports, coastal areas,or chemical plants, use anti-corrosion,galvanized,or stainless steel idlers to resist rust.
10.Standardize Installation
Ensure brackets are aligned, fixed firmly, and installed evenly.Improper installation causes uneven force and early failure.
